Day 3: Galway

This morning, transfer to County Clare where you will enjoy a guided surfing lesson, one of the best places in Ireland to surf! Enjoy a guided lesson at your preferred level with your expert instructor as you take to the waves in the wild Atlantic.

Next, transfer to the Burren, a lunar-like region in northern County Clare home to barren landscapes and karst limestone scenery. Enjoy a light walk through here before heading to the Cliffs of Moher, stunning and dramatic sea cliffs on the west coast of County Clare, looking into the Atlantic Ocean. Here, enjoy a picnic lunch we have prepared for you before enjoying a light walk and some time at leisure to admire the scenery further.

This late afternoon, be picked up in Galway to enjoy a pub crawl through the spectacular and wild scenery of Connemara, the largest Gaeltacht (Irish-speaking region) in Ireland. Visit 4-5 pubs and enjoy a drink in each one, learning about the local culture, history, language and a chance to meet the local people.

Be transferred back to your hotel or Galway city centre.

Breakfast and Lunch included

Day 4: Galway

Day at leisure to further explore the pubs, restaurants and music scene of Galway.

Optional: meet at Galway or Connemara-based hotel and transfer to Connemara Airport for the 8-minute flight to Inis Oirr, the smallest of the three Aran Islands.

Walk the short distance from the airport to the Aran Tea House, where your guide will tell you about the island, history and culture.

Following some tea, coffee and freshly-baked scones at Alissa O Donoghue’s Tea House, walk to the island arts centre where you will be introduced to the island’s customs, traditions and crafts, including the traditional type of clothing worn. You will then meet a local islander who will teach you how to make a St Brigid’s Cross from local willow grown on the island and you will keep this as a souvenir.

Next, enjoy a tour of the island, visiting the shipwreck, underground church and 15th century castle before enjoying a fresh lobster lunch at a house just beneath the castle. If time permits, we will visit one of the nearby pubs for a drink.
