Itinerary

The Buffalo dairy farm was set up in a beautiful rural area around 30 minutes outside of Luang Prabang in Laos as a socially responsible and sustainable business.

The owners of this enterprise provide support and education around dairy farming using the milk from Buffalos to make delicious products such as cheese and ice cream. This was previously unheard of in the region. The introduction of this concept offers a source of nutrition in the area and additional income for the local farmers.

For this tour, you will visit the farm joined by an expert guide who will show you around. Admire and even cuddle up to the big beautiful buffalos. Feed Ferdinand, a friendly 750-kilogram buffalo. The buffalos love to eat, not only grass but bananas as well. After eating, the buffalo’s next favourite activity is having a bath. Help wash and scrub them, giving the buffalo a luxurious ‘day spa’.

Next, see a demonstration of milking the buffalo and learn why buffalo milk is so good for you. The buffalos may be the stars of the show but the farm also has playful pigs, cheeky chickens, and rollicking rabbits that are also plenty of fun.

Take a break and relax in the café and enjoy a homemade cake served with ice cream made from the Buffalo milk and share some tea or locally grown coffee. The tour is approximately one hour and is available Monday through Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m
