Meet Yann Phun – The Teacher, Tourguide, and Champion Biker of Cambodia

From inspiring students to leading travelers through Cambodia’s wonders, Yann Phun is a passionate educator, national tour guide, and champion mountain biker. AN INSPIRING TEACHER  

Over 20 years ago in a rural community located 85 kilometres northwest of Siem Reap, Yann Phun’s very first journey of sharing language skills, culture and history started with being an English teacher at a government high school. The immense joy and fulfillment he finds in educating and inspiring younger generations have been driving forces that keep him on this path for over two decades. 

A PROUD AMBASSADOR OF CAMBODIA 

Yann Phun always knew he had much to offer to his homeland of Siem Reap, the land steeped in rich traditions and home to renowned ancient temples such as the Angkor Wat that draws millions of visitors from around the world to Cambodia. Inspired by the opportunity, history, and culture, he embarked on a new chapter as a professional tour guide. 

Starting as a regional guide, Yann’s dedication and eagerness to learn quickly transformed him into a national expert. Now, with 16 years of experience, Yann has never been prouder to be an ambassador for Khmer culture, sharing Cambodia’s history, cuisine, natural beauty, and the warmth of its people. “Guiding various types of tour groups—educational, leisure, and adventurous—I always inject my knowledge, skills, and a touch of humour to immerse clients in Cambodian culture. It’s a delight to share our heritage with laughter and fun, both locally and globally,” – he shares. 

THE CHAMPION BIKER WITH A SPIRIT OF ADVENTURE 

Beyond teaching and guiding, Yann Phun has a big passion for biking and hiking. In fact, he is a national champion in mountain biking. Despite having explored countless hidden trails across the country, his heart still belongs to Siem Reap. Whether it’s hiking through the iconic Angkor Wat, venturing into tropical jungles, or discovering the serene beauty of Kulen National Park, Yann finds peace and inspiration in his homeland.
