This walking tour takes you not just into the Liverpool of popular culture but also deep into the wealth of the incredible architecture found throughout the city. Start inside the Anglican Cathedral, a Gothic masterpiece and the largest cathedral in the UK, for a short tour before heading to the Oratory.
Walk onto Rodney Street which is dotted with Grade II listed Georgian terraced houses, including the birthplace of William Gladstone. Visit the mechanics Institute and School of Art, Grade II listed buildings where Paul McCartney and George Harrison attended school and John Lennon was a student at the college. Now both buildings are part of the famous Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts, founded by Sir Paul. See the Case History sculpture, Blackburne House and Faulkner Street, an attractive street of Georgian terraces frequently used as a film and tv set for Peaky Blinders, Foyle’s War and Sherlock Holmes among others.
Walk onto the Hahnemann Hospital, Sheppard- Worlock Statue, The Hope Street Hotel, the Philharmonic Hall, where you can go inside and the School for the Blind. Stop for a drink at the Philarmonic Dining rooms, an iconic pub and grade 1 listed building before visiting the famous Everyman Theatre.
The afternoon concludes with a walk past the Liverpool medical Institution and visits inside both The Metropolitan Cathedral Of Christ The King and the Victoria Building.
