Introducing our Local Legend Tracey Jeffery, delivering hands-on cooking and dining experience in her 18th-century farmhouse.
Tracey’s story
Tracey lives on a small farm by the shores of beautiful Strangford Lough in an area of outstanding natural beauty in County Down, Northern Ireland. A Mother of two teenagers, she started out her career teaching French and during her studies had the opportunity to live and work in France, finding work in a local boulangerie.
After her experience, Tracey brought her skills back home to Northern Ireland where she started visiting the local Farmer’s Markets to sell her French patisserie. It was then, after meeting lots of other wonderful producers from County Down an idea dawned upon her to bring visitors to meet these amazing craftsmen.
This saw the start of NI Food Tours, a local food tour business with a twist. Tracey had always loved baking at home and dreamt of creating something around what she loved, baking for her guests! She was able to marry the two ideas and shortly after established her food tour business welcoming guests to her home to cook and bake as part of the experience!
Guests might expect to learn of the local food culture, celebrating what is uniquely Northern Irish. Using ingredients from her garden and sourced within a 10-mile radius of her home. You’ll have a sense of stepping back in time and learn how the Irish people lived and survived years ago.
