At Vivu Journeys, itโ€™s our people who bring travel to life. Suy Vet, our Product & Community Manager for Cambodia and Laos, embodies this with over 20 years of experience in tourism. His passion for cultural storytelling and purpose-driven travel reflects our commitment to creating meaningful, responsible journeys that connect travellers with local communities.

A LIFELONG PASSION FOR TRAVEL AND HOSPITALITY

Suy Vetโ€™s journey began in Siem Reap, the cultural heart of Cambodia. Inspired by the awe of international visitors who came to witness the grandeur of Angkor Wat, Suy Vet was drawn to the world of hospitality from an early age. He pursued formal training at ร‰cole d’Hรดtellerie et de Tourisme Paul Dubrule and began his professional career at a luxury hotel before making the shift to the travel industry.

Joining Buffalo Tours, which later became Vivu Journeys, he found his true passionโ€”not just in organizing tours, but in crafting experiences that connect people, cultures, and places. Over 21 years later, he continues to thrive in a role that allows him to celebrate the heritage of his homeland while elevating the travel experience for visitors from around the world.

CONNECTING CULTURE, PEOPLE, AND PLACES

In his work, Suy Vet strives to go beyond typical itineraries. Whether showcasing the spiritual serenity of Luang Prabang, the vibrant streets of Hoi An, or Cambodiaโ€™s pristine coastlines, he designs journeys that highlight the regionโ€™s unique identities. Siem Reap remains closest to his heartโ€”not only as his hometown but as a symbol of Cambodiaโ€™s ancient legacy and resilient spirit.

His goal is always to immerse travelers in the genuine essence of Southeast Asia, through meaningful encounters, local insights, and storytelling that bridges cultures. Every detail, from destination selection to community engagement, is approached with care and authenticity.

TOURISM AS A FORCE FOR GOOD

Cambodia Community Development Project

One of Suy Vetโ€™s most inspiring contributions has been his work in community-based tourism. He believes that tourism should uplift local lives, not just serve global travelers. By connecting visitors with rural communities, Suy Vet helps create mutual valueโ€”offering tourists meaningful engagement while supporting education, livelihoods, and cultural preservation in underserved areas.

Kok Sangke Program

One of his key initiatives is the Kok Sangke Community โ€“ a Vivu Journeys community-based tourism project launched through collaboration with local residents, monks, and the district authorities. The community’s economy relies mainly on agriculture, including rice farming, fishing, livestock, and vegetable cultivation. The project aims to improve socio-economic conditions and create job opportunities for locals.

These initiatives empower local families, improve childrenโ€™s access to education, and promote responsible tourism practices. Under his leadership, travel becomes more than leisureโ€”it becomes a catalyst for sustainable development and cultural respect.

LIFE BEYOND THE OFFICE – A PASSION FOR MOVEMENT AND MINDFULNESS

Outside of work, Suy Vet finds balance and inspiration through movement. An avid runner and cyclist, he embraces these daily rituals as sources of clarity, energy, and personal growth.Suy Vet

He leads the Angkor Biking Club (A.B.C.), a group of local enthusiasts promoting off-the-beaten-track adventures and encouraging youth to take up cycling as a sport. Under his leadership, A.B.C. has supported charity rides for Kantha Bopha Childrenโ€™s Hospital and mentored young cyclists, with members like Mr. Yann winning national mountain biking titles. For Suy Vet, movement fuels both wellbeing and community impact.

Meeting these demands requires a strong foundation in communication, team coordination, and a deep understanding of both client needs and cultural sensitivity. By building capable, passionate teams and planning with precision, Suy Vet ensures that every journey meets high standards of service and authenticity.
